Turning Jigsaws into Montessori Activities

One of our Pre-Nursery team, Helen, bought this lovely jigsaw for us while she was in Dublin. We love it because it’s made from natural rather than synthetic materials, it’s bright and it develops many skills simultaneously. Puzzles are great for developing hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and cognitive skills such as problem solving.

To turn a simple puzzle like this into a Montessori tray activity we photocopied the jigsaw so we were able to print an exact copy. Now it is at home on our shelves in Pre-Nursery.

This activity can be used by younger children as they can see how the jigsaw should look and match the pieces over the top of the print out.
